What do you think of Dr. Ruthless?

I’ve watched this video and the other one, and I’d love to learn to fight/defend myself like that! But dvd training is just lost on me. I mean, it’s a good supplement, but I just need to do it in person. But is this the standard kind of self-defense class training, or is this just a “Dr. Ruthless” thing?

Here’s the thing…

1. The best self-defense is awareness. Be aware of what you’re doing and where you are. Stay away from potentially dangerous sitautions, and when you can’t, stay off your cellphone and keep your eyes and ears open. Any type of violence is usually against a person who is a target of opportunity. They have an Ipod or a phone and don’t pay attention.

2. In the event of an attack, the healthiest, safest thing to do is to get away. I watched the video. When the lady could have ran, she simply chose to re-engage the assailant in combat. Even a well-trained fighter knows to take an exit when they have the opportunity. Women are generally weaker and less combative then men. If you keep up the fight, it may go wrong and you get killed. Break contact at the first chance.

3. Usually universities and police stations have places to help you learn self-defense. Check out your local P.D. and ask them for help. They’ll direct you.
