What do you think are the differences between Chinese martial arts films and West takes on them?

I would appreciate your opinion this =)

The main difference for me thinking of Chinese martial arts films and western films in a similar genre recently is that the Chinese martial arts movies (I think mainly of the House of Daggers flights in particular) seem to focus entirely on visual element skeptical of the story. Some scenes are incredibly beautiful, but as a Western viewer I felt wanting a little more action. So when Western movies did not "take" on the Chinese martial arts films of violence is often accelerated and there is a lot more emphasis on fighting. When fighting in Chinese martial arts film is more about the visual element (choreography and wirework etc.) in Hollywood, it is more about the "realism" appears to be greater in the west. Perhaps because Westerners were all too cynical to the suspension of disbelief necessary …
