Shuriken? Really? An article on Shuriken?

A few weeks ago, my mother visited my office in my house. I was changing Room with my daughter. Temporarily, I transferred some shuriken at the wall to fill an empty space.

My mother wanted to experiment with the décor and so asked me if I could take on my "martial arts flowers" for a minute.

Flowers martial arts?

Not only Did I drop them, but I have stored in a box. I decided there was no need to show them, since I do not use them. (And no, the decision was not based on a comment from my mother.)

Shuriken? No more

Shuriken are not really part of my life today.

Let me explain:

At one time, I practiced with my throwing stars. I wanted to have a weapon I could use remote, and after watching Kung Fu on TV, I thought the answer would be spinning shuriken.

So I learned the skill. I could throw and paste them into a board leaning against the back of the house.

But then I stopped practicing.

Why?

1. I took shuriken throwing, because I thought it would be easy. With so many points, one of them just had to stick, right? Wrong – it took skill, and I found that I was more accurate with knives.

2. Shuriken are illegal in many areas. I did not get arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.

3. The thin, dull stars could still hurt, but they were not as effective as the stars with sharp blades ….

4. It was easy to cut on one many blades. Very inconvenient to hold.

5. I found lots of alternatives – of everyday objects to be used as projectiles.

6. I do not want to be one of the guys who wore them on a chain around your neck or belt loop. It's not my style at all.

Well Sure, there was a final reason not to wear my shuriken around with me: I did not want to lose, if I had to defend myself. They were difficult to purchase, at the time, and I do not want to throw them into the bushes.
